  3. Hey, I tried to leave a review on Amazon, but for some reason, it says my account isn’t eligible to make comments. So I’m writing here instead.

    To be honest, I wasn’t prepared for the level of brilliance in your writing. Given your humility and your incredible support for untrodden, haunted blogs like mine; the extremely unread and unknown. I didn’t expect to stumble upon such a heavyweight talent : ) Your work feels like it belongs to a seasoned, refined author, the kind whose books we see adapted for the screen.

      Hey thank you so much! I was also once an untrodden, haunted blog as well, and I haven’t forgotten that. I’m not so much of a good writer as a good editor! I remember for Echo 4 I cut 67% of my original manuscript, I went from 400k+ words to like 135k. One of my readers begged for the manuscript before I finished editing, then I never heard back, I’m guessing because it sucked a ton as an unedited draft. I usually have to go over it 30+ times before I feel it’s ready to publish.

      I’m going to start calling my backpack a carry now, lol!

      If you read volume 2, I hope it entertains you. I had so much fun writing that one! Currently finished with 3, but I’m still editing it.

  4. Same to you, Kai Kent. 🙂 You could say I’m still in the narcotic fugue caused by the Whisper Folk. Let’s see who’ll win in the end, me or the Iguars. I’ve fought them before and won, believing in my dream, only to lose it again when suspicion crept in and infiltrated my soul.

    As for the editing, wow, that’s a huge chunk of words you guillotined from your manuscript 😀 It sounds more like a massacre than an editing job 😛 But, if I’m being honest, I think you’re just being humble, because good writing remains the origin. To quote Gyrax’s words to Jon: “That was Laiddinic power… the ability to create and narrate.”

    I downloaded the sequel and will definitely be reading it, though I admit, I take my time with PDFs. I’m more old-fashioned. I did consider buying the paperback but the overseas shipping costs more than the book.

      Ironically, I couldn’t write a lick before I was thirty. I could do a chapter here and there, and I read like crazy, but every attempt just petered out. After I got into Joseph Campbell’s hero’s journey (six part series is a great watch) and more interested in psychology, I started to intuit why someone was doing what they were doing, and what their natural progression might look like. Maybe that will help, I hope.

      No worries about the sequel–I’m sure you’ll enjoy it far more than the first! (I do, anyway). Not sure about the third, though. I’m editing the crap out of it so we’ll see! It does get dark for Jon, but–no spoilers–I hate dark endings, so it will end happy, that I guarantee! 😊

  5. Thank you so much. I’m definitely going to watch it. I consider myself fortunate to have stumbled upon your work. But I don’t believe in luck, I’d rather say that God placed you on my path for a reason.

    I have to admit I come from a world of children’s literature mostly. I don’t come from Lord of the Rings (though maybe Lord of the Flies). My most favorite author in the entire world is Roald Dahl. Some years ago, when my now 11-year-old daughter was just a little girl, I used to tuck her in bed and spin stories for her as she drifted to sleep. I’d craft a new tale on the spot every five minutes, all featuring a fictionalized version of her as the protagonist, “The Floating Dida and The Parachute”, “Dida and the Cavity Who Opened a Pizzeria in Her Molars”, titles like these. I even wrote my first children’s horror story, but as I mentioned earlier, the dream was lost (The Whisper Folk) when I got caught up in the technicalities and as usual second guessed myself maddeningly. (I used to write in classical Arabic, not English). And now my daughter is older, and the innocence and sweetness of a 6-year-old, the main inspiration behind the stories, has faded into maturity.

    Anyway, keep inspiring others. And may you always find light in dark places and may it ease your pain and guide your feet. BTW, this is one of the most beautifully expressed prayers even exchanged in fiction. 🙂

    Evermoor should absolutely be a movie. You’d better start working on the OST now 🙂

    • I don’t believe in luck or chance, either.

      I loved roald dahl as a kid! If you told me the synopsis of those stories, I would have been pretty doubtful that I’d enjoy them, but once I started reading them, they were always great.

      I have no doubt that you’ll write the right story at the right time. No need to beat yourself up! “You may lose your way, but you’re never off the path.” 😊

      Taylor Swift would obviously be on the OST. I’m hoping she’ll make a cameo for the concert. 🤣 Otherwise, I want John Williams for the score 😁

      • I listened to those and loved em! Especially Intro feat. Zola Jesus. Great mix of optimism, innovative dreamy trancey-ness, and the lyrics are incredible, just what I’d want for a fun, thoughtful adventure! I’ll keep them in mind and let the movie director know, if and when they come a-knocking. 😊
