News: Not gonna lie, I’ve been struggling with this new word count goal of thousands per day rather than hundreds. I think I’ve figured out a sustainable schedule that’ll give my mind and my wrists (carpal tunnel is a real thing, folks) sufficient time to rest between bouts. This past week I was able to hit a little over 13k words, with 5 days of 2500 words a day, and one of 500. That’s not counting the few hundred extra words I throw into ads and interaction.
I think for now I’ll go back to the five days a week schedule (I used to write 700 words a day every day). 2500 words a day is coming pretty comfortably (if I write five days a week) and I’m going to try pushing it to 3k a day this week.
Echo 4 is a meandering mess right now and I don’t think I’m enjoying it to the fullest (I feel that authors should take undignified pleasure in that soupy stew of possibility that first drafts present). It’s a good exercise in restraint (for me), as I’m refraining from editing until this thing’s done.
On a positive note, I was able to fulfill my informal goal of “every month a nanowrimo” as I’ve been able to hit the 50k word mark with four days to spare. Doesn’t say a damn thing about whether Echo 4 will be worth reading, but it’s a small victory in terms of personal capability.
Ok that’s it for now, I hope those of you who’ve bought Echo 3 are currently enjoying it! If you’re a writer, I wish you inspired drafting and insightful editing!!!
Grahame Greene wrote 500 words a day, no more, no less. He’d finish in mid-sentence so he’d have something to finish/start with next day.

I’ve read the same with Hemingway. I think Michael Crichton takes the cake with 10k words a day.
