Okay, slept in since its Saturday, about to throw in my 500 words, but before that, I wanted to give a sincere and heartfelt thank you to Ian Lamb. My best writing comes (I feel) when I focus on the reader and really bringing a clean, entertaining, insightful vision to them. So in essence: Service to others. Ian paid me a compliment today on facebook, and that did ME service. I don’t want to cheapen his words, so I’ll just leave it at: Reading the first two chapters of Echo Volume 2 got him out of a writing rut. More than great reviews, I’m incredibly privileged that my writing actually had a personal effect on someone outside of the normal scope of writing. AND…I’m well aware that my Ego is rolling around like a pig in mud right now, but when I score a triumph, I like to bask in it for five minutes, then move on. Ian, reading your compliment motivated and terrified me, which I think is a balanced reaction, because it motivated me to apply myself even harder, and it terrified me into working more assiduously, because I don’t want to let you down. I’m glad that the first two chapters did service to you, but thank YOU, friend, because your compliment makes those long hours of word-wrangling worth it!
How wonderful – a precious moment of pure joy. Congratulations!
