    I downloaded this earlier today, and so far am loving it! As the army brat of a career veteran First Sergrant, I find your writing familiar and well done. It reminds me of the pride and humility my father wears when he tells stories of his tours. I haven’t gotten far enough in to see if you’ve touched on the deep, emotional changes serving ones country forces recruits of all branches to endure (raising teenagers tends to cut into ones free time for reading), but I suspect you won’t leave me wanting.

      Thank you! Honestly, I can’t read Echo 1 without cringing nowadays; I made an artistic choice to really make it introspective because that’s how he is at the start of his journey, but it seems too in-depth to me now. And yes–being in a dystopic military, the worst aspects of the military rear their head and he has to come to terms with them, then figure out what’s beyond all of it that he’s really attracted to. No spoilers, but it gets existentially crazy–magic, philosophy, and mind-bendery all come in starting with book 3. 🙂
