Mindlessly exulting teachers/traditions without being willing to examine their shortfalls/shortcomings is a sure sign that one is not ready to realize that all things possess instructive potential (and can thus be taught by all of life), a sure sign that (s)he lacks the clarity of perception to step up and become a peer alongside their former mentors…
And a sure sign that (s)he still needs a teacher.
When I write on my “religious” blog, it often is to question my assumptions and those of others. How else will you know what you believe if you don’t question and examine it?

Exactly! Not only that, it’s a constant check to see if what applied then still applies now. The very essence of humility, in my opinion.

I’m not sure that your initial premise logically leads to your three conclusions, Kent, but I’ll agree that one needs to examine one’s assumptions if one’s ever to get anywhere spiritually – cheers, R ! chard

Yes indeed! Helpful guides constantly tell people to examine their assumptions, cult leaders…the opposite.

So Amazon suggested “The Dirty 108” to me today…I bought it. I’m curious. 🙂

Thank you for the buy, even though I cringe to see what you think of it! I left it up as a curio—my first bumbling foray into writing. 🙂

I’m planning on reading it (along with The White Princess by Philippa Gregory) on vacation next week. I’ll let ya know.

Sweet! Feel free to stop reading it if the cringes mount up, haha! XD

Oh that will NOT stop me, believe me. I suffered through ALL of the 50 Shads trilogy despite the fact all the books are extremely cringe worthy and just get worse the deeper into it you get.

I haven’t touched any of them, but I gotta give props to Ms. James for pulling off what she did! I’ll heed your implication though…I’ve got too much stuff to write to be dabbling with 50 shades of anything, hahaha!
