Atriya tolerated pain.
He tolerated blood.
He tolerated chaos.

What he did not tolerate
was lapses.

The shower malfunctioned.
The house felt wrong.

And he had forgotten to check his weapons.

That wasn’t distraction.

That was deviation.

Deviation is dangerous.
