The Key He Couldn’t Name

Chaplain Verus never tried to impress him.

She didn’t soften herself.
Didn’t perform.
Didn’t bend.

Atriya respected that.

And when they trained,
something inside him went quiet.

Empty hands.
No gear.
No tech.

Just breath.
Just presence.

He couldn’t explain why it mattered.

Only that it did.

Some evolutions begin without weapons.

  2. Interesting. I’d pictured Verus a little older when I read the books. I guess you retire early from the military, though, if you’re ‘front line’. It’s good SF so I hope people are seeing these ads.

    1. Thanks! I hope so too. If/when it becomes a movie/show (fingers crossed, lol), I hope the director makes a good choice for the actress. The older ones seem to be aging backwards nowadays, so I’m not sure how that’ll work out…

    1. Thanks! My marketer wants to do ads for all the books and make short movie trailers for some scenes. I’m excited to see what comes out!
