Musings

I’ve found that if I don’t think of anyone I dislike/hate as an inadvertent guru, I’ve wasted a great opportunity.

  1. Hmmmm….I do understand what you’re saying and I accept that we learn from our dislike of certain people, a number of life lessons and even types of behaviours we DON’T want to emulate and/ or traits we don’t want to re-experience in others.
But I would be torn about gracing people I dislike with the respectful title of teacher or guru.
Perhaps the abstract concept of what they have inadvertently caused me to comprehend is my figurative guru.
Thank you for turning my brainial gears, as per yooj.

    • No problem! I like to say people I don’t like are my guru in the same way that a bad accident or health problem is my guru. I’d really rather not learn under them, but they still got valuable things to offer if I can regard them objectively. Cautionary tales, if nothing else.

      • Indeed! After being hamstrung by ideals, I’ve morphed into a performance-oriented individual, so basically that’s the perspective I’m looking at it from. My first priority is peak fulfillment, then peak performance a slight second. So even though I hate or dislike someone, I really try and see if they have anything to offer me. I’d like to believe the Universe doesn’t just subject us to unpleasantness out of punishment or whimsy.

      • Oh, I certainly hope that’s the truth of this existence. If everything placed in front of us and within us is there to teach us something, then that definitely sparks hope that the more we experience, good or bad, the more we learn and the better we become. I absolutely strive to be a good person and a good mummy because of horrible things I’ve experienced and would never want my precious boy to experience.
So I absolutely understand your points. Excellent thinkage.

    • Hey Dana! I tried to message you on FB but it looked like you deactivated your account (experimented with some stuff that you know pretty well and we’ve discussed before). Good to see you blogging again! I don’t do the blogger awards because they take up a lot of my time, and writing is basically like a full time job for me now minus the full time pay, lol. But I’m super flattered! Thank You!!! 🙂
