I believe being able to summon intensity/commitment without relying on the crutch of an ideology/cause is akin to a superpower. Necessity will reliably force us to act or perish, while proactive deeds—WITHOUT the incentive of immediate gratification—allow us to take full advantage of our humanity. Discipline and critical thinking are the keys to this capability, and in the greater sense, I believe both those traits are the keys to personal freedom.
A clear mind and unfaltering belief!

I wish I could put my thoughts into words. Suffice to say I think I know what you’re talking about and I agree. At the same time, I feel it’s a rabbit hole of reasons that you do something, whatever you think your intention is. As in, at the core, there’s some need that drives the action. I can’t help but feel we are deterministic in our nature. If you have any thoughts that argue with us being driven by survival, I would love to hear it.

Mostly we are. But there are clear instances where people take action that are contrary to survival, whether it be suicide or sacrifice.

I want those kisses, can plan to get them….but, waiting is most likely the best bet. Or were you talking about something else? 😁
