Once it hit home that the matter in my body was formed from exploding stars, that it was billions of years old, and before the birth of the Universe matter and energy may not have even existed (there might not have even been a “before” because time as we know it was instantiated by the creation of our universe), I saw that I should apply myself in the most enjoyable way that I know how, and that I should sleep soundly at night.
Because I really am just a speck of dust in an illusory playground.
You’re a huge speck of dust of dust though!

You need to go to volcano national park on Hawaii’s big island, find the most recent flow of cooled rock, pick one up and think, “This rock is younger than me.”

What about the particles? The configuration is younger, but we’re all super old when it comes to electrons and quarks.

Just loved this. I’m a speck of ancient dust in that same illusory playground.

Nothing quite like the Cosmos to put us in perspective, we’re part of the Complexity, quite uplifting.

I know! Just contemplating the origins of the universe through science is frightening at first, but kind of soothing once I consider how fantastical it all is.

In a way, Moby was right: we are all made of stars.
I may have said this before, but when you become aware of cosmology and how vast yet interconnected our Universe is, it humbles your ass up quickly. All of a sudden, all of the things that make up the minutiae of our everyday lives, all of the wars fought on our planet in the past, present, and future, all of the politicians and propagandists who try to influence our minds, all of the people we’ve loved and hated no longer matter so much in the grand scheme of things. We are indeed just one teeny, tiny, minuscule fraction of an immense Universe, and we’re probably not the only ones riding a Pale Blue Dot like ours.
I love this Pale Blue Dot 🌏. Our Universe truly is a beautiful place.

The most obvious thing is to do our best to enjoy it. 🙂
