I suspect that the key to achieving a transcendent level of peace is embracing the idea that at some seemingly unknowable level where I am omnipotent/omniscient, I recognize myself as the very thing that voluntarily brought strife upon my selves.

You strike me as a deeply stoic man. Have you ever taken a peek at Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations? I think it would suit you well.

I’ve heard of it and I’ve definitely meant to…from what I understand, there’s much more to the Stoic philosophy than just being an unfeeling jerk (and yeah, I’ve definitely been that in my more undeveloped years LOL). From what little I’ve gleaned the few times I’ve looked into it, it seems like a sound way to approach reality.

And when you recognize this, love yourself..in spite of yourself. Not easy to do, much easier to think or type or tell.

Yes! Because it first means being honest with every uncomfortably horrible shortcoming…and then forgiving yourself for them. Just as hard (if not harder IMHO) than forgiving a sworn enemy.

Now THAT was a word picture I could have avoided………… Did you ever see the movie ‘Osmosis Jones’????? Booty clapping would fit that film perfectly!

Such a silly movie. Huge star studded animation and real people mix. I don’t remember what that is called……. It was about a germ invading a body (Frank, Bill Murray), and the mayhem of eradicating it. Gives one a whole new view of tiny things inside the body. 😳
