No more word count until the next book; volume 3 is done and being edited.

News: I’m picking away at two or three chapters of Echo 3, trying to get ’em right. My problem isn’t lack of discipline; it’s too much obsessiveness. I start to lose perspective when I’m re-reading the same crap for hours on end, adjusting “the” and “a” and trying to get each word right. Poets, you have my newfound respect, understanding, and of course: pity.
I have to set aside time for legit breaks aside from working out and eating; trawling the internet just leads to wikipedia black holes and creeping around on facebook/twitter/linkedin and doesn’t really free my head from the morass of editing. Writer problems, right? My strategy right now to address this—aside from going for a quick walk—is to force myself to read my favorite authors or go through a comic book to see how other creators maintain a sense of pace and suspense. Ironic, isn’t it? What I once enjoyed is now “homework,” although I still enjoy it quite a bit. It’s a new thing, however, to study Stephen King and try to analyze how his placement of words will draw you in and indirectly emphasize if he’s writing about a flashback or action scene or telepathic exchange or whatever.
Imma get these chapters, right! I’ve given myself the deadline of January 23 to do so, and if they’re not right by then, I’m still confident they’ll be entertaining, and I’m probably just obsessing over them too much anyway.
Anyways, back to work! If you are a writer, I wish you inspired drafting and insightful editing!
