There’s a dozen applicants, me included, that have just finished interviewing. The manager walks out and says, “Congratulations! You all got the job!” He says, “There’s just one more thing.” He grins evilly and pulls a lever on the wall. The floor opens up under us and we tumble into a dank, black pit covered with waist-high eggs. They start cracking open. Rabid office-zombies emerge from them and begin chewing on an applicant. One of ’em starts screaming, “Game over, man! GAME OVER!” Everyone’s panicking. I open my eReader to Echo. Magic flash. United States Colonial Marines (Watch Aliens, motha duckas!) burst in and begin torching the eggs. Evil, balding, bespectacled office-drones burst into flames and wither in a hissing scream. While the other applicants are screaming, Pvt. Vazquez turns to me and says, “Kent, I know you’re down for some of this!” She tosses me a flamethrower and I start laying waste to soulless corporate constructs.
