Musings

I’ve heard so many yearn for a more widespread “warrior culture,” but usually they just mean they want to be more aggressive and outspoken.  The real essence of what they speak of is the unromantic basics:  Being on time, on target, with the right gear.  Daily maintenance of body and equipment.  Paying attention to detail.  Planning your day in advance to wake up at the right hour.  Using creative thinking effectively under stress.  And mercilessly assessing your failings.

You don’t need to be wrapped in a flag, or wave a katana, or wear a gi, or take on ANY of the sundry titles to tap the “warrior culture.”  All you need is those unromantic, oft overlooked basics.

  1. thanks you for this. I am presently honing the planning my day in advance to wake up perky ish and able to get the maximum results from my day. It is interesting that you mention using creative thinking under stress full situations. It is a bit like exercise. the more creatively you think the more good vibe endorphins we release and we naturally relax. I’m going to try and apply this creative thinking in my own life today 🙂 -have a great day

    • It is absolutely like exercise! Gotta get in there, train, then relax and process so the mind can grow without breaking. Studies on willpower have shown that it behaves like a finite resource, but that its overall capacity can be expanded with the right encouragement. So there’s hope! 🙂

  2. Right on sir!
Be PRESENT in each moment and think of how your higher self would tackle your work and what you face.
Find purpose and Beauty in the small actions you consciously take.
Your flaws will melt and love and gratitude will take its place.
Oh switch off social media and write three targets for the day
and with who you are going to activily communicate.
Drink plenty of water- to keep the mind alert and awake.
Have faith. I think you have inspired me to write this in my blog today!
