Strangely (or maybe not), it seems that if I allow my internal reaction to something, it leads to peace with the very thing itself. That doesn’t necessarily mean I endorse or agree with it, but that I live my life without spending effort and focus on internal rejection, even if I outwardly (and ironically) have to reject the very thing I’ve made peace with.
That seems wise!

We need to ‘process’ things that happen to us. During that, we’ll have a range of different feelings. Once processed, it’s part of our ‘background’. It won’t be ‘triggering’ us again unless similar conditions arise. So yeah, we can wish a thing undone, but when we’ve processed it, we know it can’t be reversed, and we move on. If we’re caught in PTSD, it’s because we can’t – yet – process the event. One of the more complex cases (I think) is when someone we love ‘requires’ us to support them in something that is, for us, unsupportable. Eventually, we do so out of love – because we support that person, whatever they do. But still, we don’t wish to do it ourselves. Best wishes, Kent.

Indeed. I believe there’s a lot of parallels here with shadow work and reconciling experience into identity. Best of luck to you!

Your post reminds me of the Gary John Bishop principle in UnF@ck Yourself “Expect nothing and accept everything”. Thanks for the reminder to be at peace with what is.

No problem! Peace is inevitable, nonstop suffering not so much.

It’s excellent advice, but not always easy to put into practice, I find.

I completely agree. Case in point, Last Tuesday’s election results that I promised a loyal reader I wouldn’t delve into was less than desirable. Why the majority made that decision, I’ll never completely know or understand, but I’m okay now with it knowing somehow, someway it will work itself out for the betterment of all.

I believe so as well. I view humanity kind of like the stock market, where there are dips and plateaus, but the overall trend is upward.

This is true! And it is a way of removing stress, and anxiety. It is an acknowledgment of those feelings and an observation of why that response came about. The thing is not to hold on to it. Acknowledge it, understand it and let it go. Then peace follows. I like the way you have written this, it has made me thinker deeper on the matter.

Yes, it wants to let go, I suspect. We sometimes get in the way

Embracing the situation at that very moment might be difficult but it helps to deal with same kind of frequency phases with little ease, enduring the pain and not losing hope that you might be stronger one day matters the most
