Musings

The reason I want this or that is because I believe I will be happier in the having of it.

But if happiness is under my control (while I can’t immediately turn negativity into happiness, I can always point my mind in the direction of it–i.e:  depression into anger, anger into pessimism, pessimism into apathy, apathy into mild optimism, and upward from there) I can allow myself into happiness BEFORE the condition occurs, opening my perception to the actions and opportunities that will bring a happy condition into being.

Personally, this is much more fulfilling–I’m leveraging my perception to achieve the goal before the labor.  And in doing so, the labor becomes natural and easy; it transforms from “work” into reward.

  1. Definitely! And, I think happiness that is contingent upon obtaining a future item often has an incredibly short lifespan, leaving a person forever in the pursuit of a future “if only…” and rarely soaking up the goodness that can be found in the present.
