Musings

IMHO, the best belief systems should inspire one to grow and evolve, constantly reiterating the system’s core values in new and more effective ways.  If this isn’t the case, then there runs the danger of even the best operating system lapsing into an old, maggot-ridden religion, predictably red in tooth and claw.

  1. Interesting words, buddha. I find myself in agreement with that assessment.
@Opher… how can a belief be limited by fact? The FACT that our world (Earth) is a sphere in no way limits the BELIEF, by some, that our world is flat. Now I would agree with the notion that facts can – and maybe should – serve as a guiding influence for a belief system. Again, let’s use the example of believing that the world is flat versus the fact that it is a sphere. Believing that it is flat in spite of scientific observation and data to the contrary still does not and can not limit that chosen belief, but that information really should compel someone with that belief to reevaluate said belief.
