I actually used to be pretty lazy. Then I found out that if you don’t put in the work, the universe will PUT YOU to work.
I’m still lazy at heart. From my lazy man’s point of view, it has simply become more pleasurable and convenient to put forth my best effort. Ironic? Yes. True? Also yes.

I’m a lazy person, but I strive to do well in may aspect of my life, because of the crap that can happen if I don’t do certain things in a timely or effort-filled manner.

From a lazy person’s point of view, it’s actually more rational to do as you do; maybe not as immediately gratifying, but it actually serves laziness even better in the long run. I feel the same way, haha! 🙂
