Echo: A Dystopian Science Fiction Novel

There’s a dozen applicants, me included, that have just finished interviewing. ย The manager walks out and says, “Congratulations! ย You all got the job!” ย He says, “There’s just one more thing.” ย He grins evilly and pulls a lever on the wall. ย The floor opens up under us and we tumble into a dank, black pit covered with waist-high eggs. ย They start cracking open. ย Rabid office-zombies emerge from them and begin chewing on an applicant. ย One of ’em starts screaming, “Game over, man! ย GAME OVER!” ย Everyone’s panicking. ย I open my eReader to Echo. ย Magic flash. ย United States Colonial Marines (Watch Aliens, motha duckas!) ย burst in and begin torching the eggs. ย Evil, balding, bespectacled office-drones burst into flames and wither in a hissing scream. ย While the other applicants are screaming, Pvt. Vazquez turns to me and says, “Kent, I know you’re down for some of this!” ย She tosses me a flamethrower and I start laying waste to soulless corporate constructs.

Never, EVER be caught unawares by the secret office-zombie egg room that your boss has built. ย You KNOW it’s there. ย Getย Echo Vol. 1 on Kindleย here: ย Vol. 1 on Kindle. ย Vol. 2 on Kindle here: ย Vol.2 on Kindle. Oh my, now I’m honoured, linked to the Colonial Marines! The big injustice being there was never a film made about them!!
(A prequel! The same actors could have been used, and the closing line being:
“Yeh, with some new lieutenant and a civilian probably going on a bug-hunt!!”- it would have been a winner!!)
