Word Count, Vol.3: 92,329 Yep, you read that right. The total word count has DECREASED since last week, despite the fact that I drafted 5k words since then. The editing sword is in full freaking swing! Thanks to All Who Bought Echo! And BIG THANKS to Melissa, Barbara, Ian, Lorna, [anonymous], Lisa, Meg, Matt, Bobby, F.T., Alice Smith, Leslie Coop, Richard, Shauna, Sydney, Pam, Jessica and now Angela for posting AMAZING reviews on Amazon!!! Ashley too for the 5 star on Nook!
News: Giant robots! Cyborg monster-men! AND….lalalala NO SPOILERS, haha! Currently about halfway through the climax and scrambling scrambling SCRAMBLING to edit chapters! If you are a writer, then I wish you inspired drafting and insightful editing!!!
I envy your editing sword! 🙂 A high word count is my nemesis these days.

Not sure if it’s a thing to envy…I just read my stuff ad nauseum until I feel it’s concise and entertaining, and boy does it get old, haha!

I feel that I’m working on (hopefully the last) edit to get word count down to a reasonable number. Although I am loving the process, weird I know.

I hate it…then I love it. I love it when it finally begins to flow and entertain me again. That’s definitely a magic feeling, when even though you’ve read it a thousand times, it starts to really shine cos of the polish you put into it. Good on you for the diligence! Kinda sucks to see that word count go down…but that’s the reality of being a writer! 🙂

Why are the number of words important out of curiosity?

Depending on the genre, there are certain wordcounts that fit within the readership. Also it can give you a rough idea of how many pages your book ends up being, and you want your book to have some substance; not many will pay for a one page essay.
