Musings

Pick whatever label you want—writer/soldier/artist/cage fighter/Samurai/spiritualist/businessman…there are core values that transfer from one to the other:  Attention to detail, creative problem-solving, DISCIPLINE (can be replaced obsession, but not as sustainable).  The outside flavors (drafting/fighting/painting/training/zen/ritual/entrepreneurship) are just that:  flavors.

In order to follow Musashi’s advice, dig deeper into that which is transferable…and then?  Dig even deeper.  That way, “If you know the way broadly, you will see it in all things.”

  1. I just read a story similar to this yesterday, but since I have like 15 active books going, I can’t find it to quote, lol.

It was something abour having a lightbulb moment, a moment of clarity regarding Tao or Dharma in a situation and the master said, “Keep Going”

Anyway, this is a great post, I really do like it. Oh and Thanks for your service (retired AF here).

As Winston Churchill said, “If you think you are in hell, keep going”

Sorry for the rambling (I was in the moment! ;))

  2. So insightful. I’ve been job-hunting lately, and I’ve started thinking in terms of more general skills and interests instead of just pigeon-holing myself. It is so liberating to see a broader range of possibilities out there!
