Everybody likes talking about potentiality and new projects, myself included. That’s when ideas are fresh, exciting, and sexy. But that’s not when you prove yourself. You prove yourself when you’re on the 70000th word, or the 500th edit, or when you look at a blank screen and feel completely demotivated.
THAT’S when the universe listens closely, and that’s when you prove yourself.
My state as of today…

I just reviewed a book in which this was my main issue with it. The author became accomplished and well-known and then shoved a new book through publication just because she knew her fans would purchase it. The reviews afterwards were devastating. I really love how you summed this up so shortly but it really is profound.

Yeah people work hundreds of man-hours to bring a pleasurable two hour movie to the fore. I think that applies to all art; incredible effort should be made to bring an audience an effortless pleasure

totally agree. Motivation is always the hardest to find when you want it the most.
