IMHO, editing must be approached with the same level of passion as drafting. Editing springs from the same noble root as the drive to improve ourselves through unrelenting consistency.
Again. Again. Again. Until it’s right. That describes the professional’s very way of being.

And in a sense…it’s good you’re screaming, because that makes your readers scream less when they try to understand your work. (just trying to put a positive spin on it, don’t hate me)

I over edited in the end…because I realised the first two drafts either left no space,for the reader to think and make their own bridges or they left wide rivers to cross.
One thing I realised today…besides my blogs and bantering here I haven’t written a chapter since February. You do write a lot and compel me to say something.
I am writing cover letters and revamping my synopsis for,the various agents nervously. 6-12 weeks I have to wait and that’s if I am lucky.

Great, that is AWESOME! If you ever find yourself wondering if you’ve edited correctly (too much editing and you lose feel for how words should look) then just crack your favorite books open and see how they’ve structured their words, and you can see what they got away with and what they didn’t. But it requires a different kind of reading, the not for fun kind. Honestly, when I’m reading for fun, it’s like I’m watching a movie. I couldn’t even tell you what the actual words were in a lot of cases…

Dystopian books say a great deal with very few words- you create your own bridges.

Yeah, they’re like an autocomment on society. But then the responsibility then becomes to make it suitably fantastic and resonant. But that’s the fun part, right? 🙂

Now about hating you… Tried it when you write great stuff,,. ( laughing) not possible because you make,me laugh and think and I usually try to fire back… It’s like laser fighting but not perfected my aim. – sorry forgot to grow up.
