As much as I harp on about the annoyance of platitudes and cheesy phrases, it is not their substance I find annoying; it’s their use as a barrier against deeper investigation. I’m not a fan of the vacuously spewed cliche, especially when the very thing that gives that phrase meaning is journeying into its hidden depths. But I can’t say that I have a problem with their essence.
Because in the end? They’re all true. 😉
I agree but ‘have a nice day’ still annoys me- essence and all.i think it’s the word ‘nice’ or,perhaps the lack,of sincerity with which is said so often.

I definitely agree with the lack of sincerity being annoying, but I can picture a heartfelt ‘have a nice day.’ In fact, have a nice…Never mind, haha! 🙂
