I suspect that the purposeful avoidance of unpleasantness/suffering will ironically draw those things directly to me. And that to truly banish such concepts, one must stare them directly in the eye, neither seeking nor hiding from them, and delve into or sidestep them as needed. Then, their very definition will change from “unpleasantness” and “suffering” into simply: another thread in a Greater Tapestry.
As they say, face your demons.

I understand the concept. I’m very allergic to cats. If there is a cat in a room full of people, that creature will make a bee-line right for me and cuddle up on my lap. I try sending it go away vibes, but to no avail.

I am too. Especially when my immune system’s down. I watch what I eat though, and after a few weeks around ’em, I stop getting symptoms. (Don’t know if that had anything to do with the main point).
