Word Count, Volume 2: 59277 (almost 200 pages! Woohoo! It’s roughly 30k words per 100 pages)
News: First off, those who have been so amazingly kind as to leave Echo a good review, Thank You! Melissa, Barbara, Ian, [anonymous], and now? Lisa! Thanks bunches, Lisa! She mentioned that it was rough in the beginning but smoothed out later, and you know what? I totally agree! Lessons learned are being applied to Vol. 2 right now. And all you who have bought Echo period….THANK YOU!!!! 🙂
Ok, been super busy with Turkey Day and I will fess up, I missed a day of writing. Friday I was weak, and didn’t put down my promised 1k words, but the rest of the days I did. Sorry!
Volume 2….what to say. I hope you guys like a LOT of action and mayhem! Yes, there is significant character development in it but it’s all done with ongoing death and violence driving and/or accenting it.
Been in contact with some smart people about publishing and I have been urged to release each combined set with a base price of $2.99 for volume 1, then $1.50 for each added volume. So Echo combined set Volumes 1&2 will be $4.49. 1-3 will be $5.99. 1-4 (or the complete omnibus) will be $7.49. This accommodates those who don’t want to pay as much, or want the whole thing in one shot when I’m done. Each combined set will follow the release of an individual volume by about 3 months. That’s also been urged on me by smart people. But if you just want a taste or want your words hot and fresh off the press, then you can buy each volume for $2.99 individually. And in keeping with the theme of the book (four is used as the number of death/change) I will have four volumes, so if you buy each one individually, then that comes to $11.96, or around the cost of a pizza. (Melissa, I know you’ll appreciate that! 🙂 )
I’m trying to navigate publishing advice, royalties from amazon (below $2.99 they suddenly go from 70% to 35%) and reader needs/affordability issues. This is something that’s actually tougher than the writing itself and I apologize if I fall short in this area.
I’ve got preliminary artwork for the combined sets and it’s pretty cool! (I think!). I’ve requested some additional effects but overall I’m happy with the balance and composition of the image. I’ll let you guys see it when it’s done.
Now? Back to work! To all you writers, I wish you inspired drafting and insightful editing!
Hey Kent.
Its nice to hear your work is in progress. I’m one of the persons who totally go with “one shot”. (I started reading WoT 1 on 18th and am currently on WoT 10)
So I think I’ll get it all at once. I seriously hope that ECHO gets so much famous and successful when completed that you won’t mind handing out a pair of free copies. ;-P
If you would share, how much time did it take you to complete Vol. 1? And when did you start working on Vol. 2?

Thank you Gyan! And thank you again for your ongoing support! Vol.1 took about six months, and I started on 2 in August. I’m trying to get a book out every six months, but I’m definitely not willing to shortchange quality for that to happen.

Thanks for the figures!
You are certainly right in keeping the quality your priority.
Good luck for ECHO!

Thanks! Good luck for your stuff as well! At a certain level of success, I hope you let it be widely known that you wrote it on a mobile device-it would make it all the more impressive!
