Echo-A Dystopian Science Fiction Novel: FACEBOOK NAZIS!!!

Just been locked out of FB for not using my real name.  Please bear with me while they decide on my fate; I may have to start another account.  Sorry if I don’t respond on FB for the time being.

  1. Maybe they’ve read Echo and this part of their master plan to get you to write more. 😉

    1. Beesterds! It’s working, haha!

  2. If you’ve received the “account is locked until you provide ID,” you’re as good as done. I received that some months ago, but will not share my ID with that site so poof. They make it seem temp, but it’s not. However I have seen posts about them dropping the “you have to use real name” policy so it may or may not help if it comes sooner. Good luck!

    1. Thanks for the info! I actually know somebody who refused to share their ID but they had their account unlocked in a matter of days, so…I’ll give it a week and then make a new account.

      1. Ooo they lucked out. I hope it works the same for yourself. It’s funny. Only thing I did before I got locked out was to join a bunch of groups for Science Fiction appreciation, Steam Punk, and then Fantasy I think it was. That’s how I got into trouble: joining groups.

      2. Irony: The very internet that gives us so much freedom and expression has started to crop up the same old fascist tendencies. Human nature, I guess…

  3. They are trying to force you to reveal your true identity!

    1. NEVER! I will not bow to the likes of them, haha!

      1. Stand strong, my friend!

  4. Yeah, i got the notice about my own account not to long ago. I changed it to my actual name, i have no idea if it will stop them from taking mine down. luckily i created a backup sometime ago with my actual name on it. best to do the same whether or not it resolves itself.

    1. Thanks! I’ve seen em give the account back after a few days to somebody…we’ll see. I’ll give it a week.

  5. Oh noes, not the Facebook Nazis! Man, I knew that Mark Zuckerberg was a huge believer in the no fake identity crap but seriously? This is ridiculous. I’m sorry that you got locked out. Always give G+ or twitter a try! I’ll follow you there if I haven’t yet, in case you already have accounts on both.

    1. Thanks! I’m giving it one week, then I’m creating a new account.

  6. Yeh, it happens. Computer systems and their human partners have no sense of humour or proportion. I suffered a similar fate on Lulu as few years back and that was on their ‘Shameless Self-publicity’ page. You have my sympathies

    1. Thanks! Giving it a week before I make a new account.

  7. What’s that about? That is not right!

    1. I know! Beesterds!

  8. That’s not cool. One of the reasons I’m boycotting Facebook. Let’s hope they fix this soon.

    1. Yeah, I’m not going to put my real name out there; I know authors that have had to pull their books because of harassment in real life for using their real name.

      1. The same for reviewers. I had a friend who gave a book a bad review and the damn author tracked her down and threatened her! Real names are never safe. Especially wi Facebook and emir so called security settings.

      2. Crazypants! Man, didn’t know it extended to reviewers…
