  1. Don’t sweat it! More reviews will come in. Is Amazon the only place your offering the book?

    1. No I put it on the smashwords and all its available options…Kobo, Nook, iBooks, and like 15 other platforms. Thanks for the encouragement, haha! I thought about it…I’m actually priveleged to have received my first mediocre review, because every author I’ve seen has them! Haha! ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. You can view it as an official welcome to the world of authors. : )

  2. Yeah, no worries! I cringe when I read Goodreads reviews of books I loved and wonder what I missed. To each his own. How was your experience with Smashwords? I’ll be working on that myself soon.

    1. Well I’ve sold a grand total of….1 book on Barnes and Nobles! Haha! But that’s ok, as I understand it, Amazon has about 65% of the market for ebooks. If you do Amazon and smashwords then you get 95% covered and that’s good enough for me. Also, Smashwords is awesome because you don’t have to upload your book multiple times, through smashwords it hits Kobo, iBooks, Nook, and like ten other platforms all at once.

      1. I wonder if anyone will eventually manage to carve out a significant share of amazon’s market. I have such a love/hate relationship with them!

      2. Me too…esp. since I use the Ipad, I can’t just buy direct thru the app, I gotta buy thru a browser then download it separately on the app.

      5. I am typing in my synopsis both short and long, changed pages, lost it all. Started over, uploaded the book, couldn’t upload the cover photo. Then it didn’t like the photo. I feel like breaking out the bourbon!

      6. I’m sorry to hear that…I actually knew about these issues before I used Smashwords and I apologize for not remembering to tell you: Smashwords requires a VERY strict format in order to be able to export your document to multiple eReading platforms. I recommend reading the Smashwords formatting guide…It is a pain in the butt to follow their rules and regulations, but the tradeoff is that you don’t have to submit your manuscript individually to different retailers. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to follow suit with the rest of your books and easily hit a whole bunch of eBook sellers.

      7. Thanks for letting me vent! I actually think I did it! Now if I can just get my profile picture to rotate sideways… ๐Ÿ˜‰

      8. Just to be sure…I’d recommend checking out the previews of your documents. A lot of “invisible formatting” must be applied in order for all the platforms to honor what you want.
