There’s comfort and safety within tradition, but just like it’s better for parents and children to evolve beyond a parasitic relationship (even though it’s initially necessary), it’s better for people to evolve beyond mindless obedience to a given tradition, and apply the deeper principles behind whatever they were venerating.

  2. Our family, me and my adult kids, have tossed tradition to the wind and just doing our own thing these days. We spent the winter holidays in Las Vegas – not that was a real treat. Mountain climbing, hiking, the desert and LIGHTS. I think we all need to evolve a little more. Great post.

    1. Wow, that sounds awesome! And yeah, we’re all evolving on a large scale, but on a small scale, not as fast as most of us would like.
