Meteor hurtling towards Earth.  I’m staring at it terrified from inside my car, my 10 lb. terrier Bitefighter beside me.  My eReader on the passenger seat (open to Echo of course) flashes with magic light, enveloping Bitefighter.  His eyes glow, and his little paws levitate off the seat.  He says, “Throw me at it.”  I protest, “But you’ll—” He shouts, “THERE’S NO TIME, FOOL!”  I do as he says, and he flies toward the meteor, paws outstretched like Superman.  I see a spectacular explosion of dust and light, and he comes flying back towards me.
