IMHO, you shouldn’t [meditate/ritual of choice] for the sake of “spirituality,” or some other such divisive concept that embraces a fallacious categorization of things into ridiculous boxes labeled “spiritual” and “non-spiritual.”  

You should [meditate] until you could take it or leave it; you should [meditate] until you make EVERYTHING a meditation; you should [meditate] until you see that whether you [meditate] or not, that you are taken care of, and that it is all good.

Meaningful interaction—in stories and in life—is a dance between philosophies, so for authors, the ability to shift between identities is invaluable.  Whether the dance becomes a joyous celebration or a bitter clash is up to the participants.  

And, of course, the choreographer.

I’ve realized that pouring my soul into my writing does not entitle me to money or recognition.  Pouring my soul into my writing is simply par for the course.  

What may or may not happen after that is just a pleasant side effect.

Too great a weight will hold you back, while the complete absence of it will lead to an undeveloped spirit.

While others hit the snooze button, weaponize your mind and body.  The concept of the warrior-monk need not be relegated to some romantic asceticism; it can be done in every second of every day.  

And it starts by waking up while the world’s asleep.

I actually used to be pretty lazy.  Then I found out that if you don’t put in the work, the universe will PUT YOU to work.  

I’m still lazy at heart.  From my lazy man’s point of view, it has simply become more pleasurable and convenient to put forth my best effort.  Ironic?  Yes.  True?  Also yes.
