For maximal context when describing a particular person, you would have to account for every quantum interaction that influenced that person’s behavior and the experiences they went through.
That’s impossible, so the real question becomes: what’s the best way to convey the theme/message?
That’s where writing becomes an art. Perceiving what is pertinent, and funneling that information into an easily understandable piece of information.
I think that applies to any endeavor, actually.

I have found if I try to put something into a poem, it seems to automatically strip it down to the essence. Sometimes I don’t even realize until after the poem is written (and can then be discarded, posted or re-written as an essay.)

The written word, in whatever form, is invaluable in conveying the proper message or story.

Not an easy task, but a great goal to have. I am always concerned about over simplifying and inadvertently belittling the person with an overly reduced description. Does that make sense?

Yes and me too! I think that’s why the greatest writers/actors/directors/etc. are so well rewarded–when you capture the core spirit of a narrative, it evokes a visceral emotional response from the majority.

Huh… I guess it really is about making them laugh and/or cry.
