The shallower measure of a test is whether it ends in victory or defeat.

The deeper measure of a test is whether I can use it to become stronger or weaker.

    Looking at things through our society’s lens of a zero sum game tends to leave us focusing on externalities like victory or defeat rather on the inner struggle for growth.
