Word Count, Vol. 3: 43,099. Close to the halfway point. Whoo! (I consider 45k the halfway point, as I’d like for my novels to be hitting 90k when finished) Thanks to All Who Bought Echo! And BIG THANKS to Melissa, Barbara, Ian, Lorna, [anonymous], Lisa, Meg, Matt, Bobby, F.T., Alice Smith, Leslie Coop, Richard, Shauna and now Sydney for posting AMAZING reviews on Amazon!!! Ashley too for the 5 star on Nook!
News: Big things in the works. Got two finals done, two left. Friday I’m heading off for a 10 day trip to S.America. Lifelong buddy Peter Lee and I came up with an idea for a cartoon strip called Doc and Modoc (subtitle: a man and his monkey), an incredibly violent and profane ride of hilarity and madness. The premise is that Doc is the number one special ops guy in the world, now retired, and is a savant-like master at killing but also a complete man-child buffoon. Modoc is his incredibly smart monkey who can solve string theory equations in his sleep but ironically cannot speak English, only monkey squawks. I’ve already stick-figure sketched two strips just goofing around, and have received positive responses. Peter is the artist, so he’ll refine them to what he thinks is fit, and once he does that I’ll create a space on my website for ’em. Definitely not for the faint of heart or politically correct. I’ve already banged out two strips, so the rollout of Doc and Modoc is now in Peter’s hands.
Echo stuff: Verus is DESTROYING. Having a lot of fun writing psychic/magic combat but man, it’s back to hitting thesaurus.com, trying to recombinate words into ways that convey the imagery and doesn’t smack you in the face with repetition. I’m trying for a September release of Echo 3, but we’ll see. One thing I’m definitely doing is taking a straight month for editing at the end of the drafting process. If it’s good I’ll release it, but if it’s not, I’ll allow myself another month, but no more than that. Once again, we’ll see.
Okay, off to the gym! Can’t let my inner child down, I’ve always wanted to be and look like Bruce Wayne so in the physical sense that means keeping my girlish figure and a full head of hair (at least until he’s 70 like in Batman Beyond, then I’ll let that part go, haha!). If you’re a writer, I wish you inspired drafting and insightful editing!!!
