It’s a tricky and dangerous thing, but sometimes it’s necessary to plunge into attachment in order to break its draw.

I think we’re all onto something. Some of us see clearer for having chased death and dissolution a little further than others…but the next roll of the dice could reverse all our positions.
(Not to delve too deep into metaphor, but I believe that when we step away from the table we stop being so anxious about those stupid dice. 😉 )
What does the phrase “life is the greatest teacher,” REALLY mean? To me it means that in some scenarios, the most vaunted gurus are to be ignored, and the most infuriating scum are to be heeded. 😉
I have a theory that the majority of my behavior is a complex accumulation of defense mechanisms…at one time useful but now clunky and obsolete. So my approach to life emphasizes recognizing each shield and trap that I’ve laid in my psyche…and being fluid enough to manipulate them as necessary.
IMHO, true courage is to accept that everyone is at the exact right point in their respective paths and to love them regardless of how strange or horrible that may look…even if it means you have to kill them.
I’ve met many self-proclaimed “visionaries,” those who proclaim to be able to read people/structures or manipulate energies at an above average level. I don’t pay them much mind unless they’re willing to test their theories by creating some kind of output that benefits themselves or others…IMHO, a visionary should be able to make their mentality a functional thing, and then be humble to enough to critically assess it and see if they can increase that functionality.
Be the thing you want (inwardly if not outwardly) before loudly braying that you are it; talking smack can be an excellent tool…IF you’re the real deal.
The intoxication of righteousness can metastasize through any point of view.
In order to consistently produce, I must become Procrastination’s worst nightmare. There may be a day here or there where I’m overcome by events, but my general rule of thumb is that there should never be a week that goes by without significant progress.
If progress isn’t made, then significant effort will suffice…SOMETIMES. Better to just get it done.
The difference between a first draft and a final edit is as vast as the one that exists between a script and a movie.
