Musings

Those who cling to old pathsโ€”routes that were once been useful but have rotted into decrepit, treacherous labyrinthsโ€”are destined to bleat a sad siren’s song, pleading with others to follow them into obsolescence, even as they become increasingly ensnared in their own ignorance.

I prefer to blaze my own trail by using a pair of time-honored compasses:ย  discipline and critical thought.

  1. I dunno, rather too dogmatic really. I mean maybe the ‘old fools’ are interesting? Maybe you’re some kind of scientist, critically exact but lacking entertainment value? Y’know, a good ‘politician’ but boring friend. I’ll have to think about this one.

    1. There’s an irony there; if they can transmute their age-old principles into relevant application, I think that old and new cease to matter. It is simply someone being a pure reflection of effectiveness and harmony.

  4. Nose crinkle. I like paths. I prefer not getting poked by brush and brambles. I also can get lost on a straight line.
If I follow what others have done (at least once) it helps me to learn how to do something. But, I understand where this musing was manufactured. It does make sense to not blindly follow something just because it is the way it has always been. Old paths, however, can be made new with looking at them with fresh mind set.
    Good thought-

    1. Indeed! We can all use help with the first steps, but it’s more and more on us to figure out the way, as we go further down the road.
