When we’re hit by dissonance–a symptom of our personal belief systems failing to produce an expected result–I believe we are faced with a choice:  backtrack and adjust, or cling to the ego-borne notion that we’re still on the right path.

From what I understand, the hero will do enough of the former to mitigate however much (s)he indulges in the latter.  The villain will do the opposite.  Wisdom come from knowing that both can (and probably will) lose their way, and that both can find it.

News:  Right now I’m in the middle of writing a pretty fun fight scene where Peter, Eun and Kora get stuck in a weight room with some demonically powered jocks and end up using a bunch of fitness equipment to beat their asses.  Been dreaming of writing this scene for a while now, so I’m wallowing in the ridiculous pleasure of it.  Musings Volume 1 is out, right back to the grindstone on Musings Volume 2.

My buddy “Burt Murdock” made it over safe and sound.  He was an “elite guy” in the military, and I’m about to do a podcast in a few minutes with him and doc.

Once I humbled myself and stopped lionizing the idea of my supposedly indomitable free will, I was able to admit how laughably mechanistic I was (most times without even realizing it), and it became much easier to take control.

In order to “hack life,” we have to make deductions from past events, than validate/invalidate those deductions through experimentation.  That sounds simple and straightforward.

In practice, it’s the exact opposite.  It’s frustrating, humbling, and often paradoxical.  But after the dust settles, after the transient pleasure from empty methodology has dimmed and faded, it’s incredibly rewarding.
