As strange as it seems, I believe apathy is useful.

If I’m stressing out over specifics and expectations, I can restore my perspective by relaxing into the knowledge that life is a game, and that I’ll pass away soon enough.  My tension melts away, and my mind perceives options that wouldn’t have been apparent without a calm, open-minded view.

It’s pretty obvious the world isn’t fair—we’re bound by the actions of our peers and predecessors.

I believe the foundation of freedom is based on perception.  We can choose to see our circumstances as grips, levers, and pulleys.  Maybe we can’t activate the one we’d like, but by working with what we have, we can work our way up—access a higher frequency of movement through the fruits of our smaller efforts.  Along the way, if we keep our perception open and honest, we may stumble upon mechanisms that are far more rewarding than our original goals.

Or we can see everything as a hopeless prison—no room for improvement, no reason for effort.  No thanks.  I prefer the alternative.

I’ve tried justifying my actions as right or wrong, but over time, my justifications reverse their value again and again.  Now I try and focus on perspective; everything seems to be good in the end.  I try to make the best choice possible, and enjoy the unfolding as much as I can.
