I get myself wound up and irritated when I slip and start thinking that I’m anything more the barest, thinnest whisper of matter…one that’s meant to do anything besides love, laugh, and dream.

My idea is not to perfect the outcome (impossible anyways), but glean value from effort and concentration.  It may be constructive at first to create a “sanctified area,” but once I’m comfortably capable, can I write, or (pick your activity) in increasing adversity?  Can I juggle life and time AND maintain focus?

The answer is yes; many artists create their best work in times of personal upheaval.  OUR task is to become their newest incarnations.  There is no “perfect,” there is only improvement.  And when you’ve hit your limit at your craft, that’s not the end…

It’s time to pick a new hobby.

I believe that the solution to life is to slowly/suddenly realize (as if waking from a dream) that there are no problems to solve…and that there’s no reason to put off Enjoyment.  😜

IMHO, only 3 things are nondualistic/endless:  love laughter and dreams.  Everything else is a dualistic board game with its own set of rules.  Finance, war, magic, family operate under rules of logic, limited resource, change and intention, honor and loyalty…etc.  Each board game can be fun as hell…or we can be the guy that swears and throws a fit when he loses.  The reason spiritual masters caution against being attracted to special powers is not because they’re “evil,” but because they’re like Oculus Rift (or whatever’s the best nowadays)….once you play that game it’s too fun to stop.

But whatever game you play, the secret to enjoying it is to realize that it’s just a game. 😄

Ever done something outside the range of “who you thought you were?”  We all hold onto the quirks of our identities and guard them with the same puritanical mix of shame/guilt that we use to defend our sex lives.  Personally, I think it’s fun to be open about jumping from identity to identity (and necessary, for us creative types), and if you see that amazing thing underneath that creates ALL identities…

Then it becomes REALLY fun.  😉

I’ve always believed in futility—just look at us:  we were designed to die.  But recently, I’ve started to believe that things are futile for another reason.

I’m by no means religious, but I do believe that there is something behind the concept of a Higher Power, and that it loves us more than we can logically comprehend.  And that’s why I still believe in futility—not because of death, but because no matter what we do or who we are….we are loved beyond all comprehension.

So why not enjoy yourself, right?  😄

Musings

Why must we prolong enjoyment in strife or fortune, ease or hardship, or—for that matter—whatever lies in front of us?  For a fantasy future that may be derailed by something as cosmically inevitable as a meteor?  Or as geologically certain as an earthquake?  Or as inescapably inexorable as death?  Attack your ego in whatever way necessary to enjoy TODAY.  Enjoy NOW.  Just ENJOY….because if you don’t, everything will still fade…and before you have the chance to realize that it was all a hilariously awesome dream…you’ll be shaking your head in regret, telling yourself with a smile, “Dammit.  Next time.”

Musings

All those cracks in reality can be obsessed over or ignored…but in my mind they’re actually clues, or “handles.”  And you may be asking yourself, “What on earth is he talking about?  Why would reality have ‘handles?’ “

Reality has handles so you can grab hold of it and bend it.  😉
