Difficult problems will arrive at our doorstep, whether we want them to or not.  And when they do, the question becomes:  have we been diligent in our conditioning, so that we can navigate these problems with grace and composure?

All the mundane, irritating practices—diet, critical thinking, work ethic, refinement of strategy—are ways of preparing for those crucial moments.  I see it as a game.  If I can maneuver through a crisis and keep my peace, I feel that I’ve won.

And then I get back in the game.

      Absolutely! I feel like that’s the point of being well prepared—so it becomes a chance to level up instead of struggling not to be overwhelmed.☺️

    We also need to keep your mental energy to make that maneuver in times when we dont have to deal with difficult problems, even during.

    You question why these things happen to you and you alone in the beginning, but by the end, we’re much stronger and have learned a lot more.

      I think so too, but I also think that whoever it’s happening to has to focus on the useful nature of adversity, rather than constantly bemoaning their misfortune. Too many folks never move past the woe is me phase.

    Good argument.
    Sometimes as my dad (it would have been his 95th birthday today) used to say ‘That was a back-hander’ (translates ‘didn’t see that coming’) survival is the basic goal and as one colleague I worked with used to say ‘survival is good’., although these days I would add ‘with dignity and additional wisdom is better’

      Totally agree. In some cases which we thankfully don’t have to deal with much in the first world, death would be preferable to survival.
