If I demonstrate character and perspective, itโ€™s possible to turn a good degree of suffering into a brutal, black-humored gameโ€”one I can glean valuable information from.

Without character and perspective, suffering becomes a nonsensical hell.

  1. Love this perspective. When I’m meditating consistently, I find myself adopting precisely that approach – I’m able to detach from the situation, take a step back and chuckle at the absurdity of it all. That actually makes you much more effective, as you say.

    1. Exactly! Life is inherently absurd, and taking that viewpoint invites the ability to prioritize activities without all the emotional baggage we tend to accumulate.

    This reminds me of the thief and the bear in the novel _That Hideous Strength_ , and how each one dealt with suffering.
