If I demonstrate character and perspective, it’s possible to turn a good degree of suffering into a brutal, black-humored game—one I can glean valuable information from.
Without character and perspective, suffering becomes a nonsensical hell.

Love this perspective. When I’m meditating consistently, I find myself adopting precisely that approach – I’m able to detach from the situation, take a step back and chuckle at the absurdity of it all. That actually makes you much more effective, as you say.
