Musings

I believe being able to summon intensity/commitment without relying on the crutch of an ideology/cause is akin to a superpower.ย  Necessity will reliably force us to act or perish, while proactive deedsโ€”WITHOUT the incentive of immediate gratificationโ€”allow us to take full advantage of our humanity. ย Discipline and critical thinking are the keys to this capability, and in the greater sense, I believe both those traits are the keys to personal freedom.

  2. I wish I could put my thoughts into words. Suffice to say I think I know what you’re talking about and I agree. At the same time, I feel it’s a rabbit hole of reasons that you do something, whatever you think your intention is. As in, at the core, there’s some need that drives the action. I can’t help but feel we are deterministic in our nature. If you have any thoughts that argue with us being driven by survival, I would love to hear it.

    1. Mostly we are. But there are clear instances where people take action that are contrary to survival, whether it be suicide or sacrifice.

I want those kisses, can plan to get them….but, waiting is most likely the best bet. Or were you talking about something else? ๐Ÿ˜

  4. Favorite line: “Discipline and critical thinking are the keys to this capability, and in the greater sense, I believe both those traits are the keys to personal freedom.” Made the whole post Tweetable.
