As a writer, I’ve found that entertaining the notion that everything I believe may be wrong allows me to access a repugnant mindset. I suspect this is one of the trickiest and hardest parts of writing:
Being willing to explore the perspective of someone you would never associate with in real life.
Certainly makes for an exciting mental adventure….keeps you engaged in the world and listening to others, too!
This reminds me of that quote by Edgar Allan Poe, “I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity”
It certainly makes life interesting if you ask me. I enjoy hearing different perspectives on what people think and/or believe.
It is kind of fun, too. Like acting-you’d never really be that person, but you can learn they have their own odd spot on the planet. And if they are really horrible, they make great cannon fodder.
