Musings

If I goof up or procrastinate, Iโ€™ll laugh and grinโ€ฆbut only if itโ€™s the exception and not the rule, because most of the time, I like to trust myself to be productive and sharp.ย  As far as others go, I like to be as forgiving as possible, because who knows what theyโ€™ve gone through?ย  As long as theyโ€™re not messing with me, then it does me good to be compassionate, to leave them be, and if there’s no practical need to do so, it only does me harm to judge them harshly.

  1. Best line: “If I goof up or procrastinate, Iโ€™ll laugh and grinโ€ฆbut only if itโ€™s the exception and not the rule.”

  2. Compassion is good and forgiving ourselves is excellent as long as we know we are giving our best.

  3. Yes, I like to think the best of humanity. There are no excuses for hurting someone but I still believe that the worse someone responds to you, the worse their pain in their past was. Just my two cents. ๐Ÿ™‚

    2. Yeah once you start digging a bit, it’s hard to say someone is just malevolent by nature. It’s usually because they had something bad happen to them.

      1. I am just trying to understand if we are on the same page or not. Are you saying that some people may be inherently born with good traits but as their character develops more through tough life situations, they become, using your words, “just malevolent by nature?”

      2. Based on what little I know of biology, I definitely believe that some of our nature is inherited. But to say that one is hopeless is, I think, an erroneous way to think of someone until science can definitely prove we do or don’t have free will. So in the face of uncertainty, I take the stance that no one is just malevolent by nature. They may have inclinations toward malevolence, but as an optimist, I’d like to think that everyone has a chance to be good. ๐Ÿ™‚
