I suspect that fortune and wealth are both tests to see whether we imprison ourselves with indulgence…or free ourselves with newfound access.

  2. The cosmos deems it unnecessary to test me… although I really wish it would at least consider a pop quiz once in a while.

  4. I had a character in “Life Sentence” who said – “I think there’s a fine line between castles and prisons that only the people who’ve lived in either one can see.” I would never have thought to say that, but there it is. And I believe her.

  6. I keep thinking that I could get a real job and be completely miserable with the ability to buy a lot of stuff I do not appreciate. Why is that even a temptation?

    1. I’d say it’s just our evolutionary instincts—it would seem to make sense that in harsher times the advantage would go to someone always trying to improve their position.
