True grit is beyond tough guy quotes/BS. It’s when a mountain crushes you, and each inch you crawl steals your breath/presses you down into jagged ground, flaying your bloody skin off in ribbons. When you forget who you are and you’re reduced to dead eyes and a hollow soul and you just go one. more. inch. That’s true grit. No quotes, no posturing, nothing: True grit.

When I was younger, I indulged in the idea that willpower could make me unbreakable. Wrong. We have our limits for a reason.
The key is not ignoring limits, but investigating them. Mercilessly expanding them. Our limits are clues to the next step we must take in personal evolution.
