Musings

As much as I harp on about the annoyance of platitudes and cheesy phrases, it is not their substance I find annoying; it’s their use as a barrier against deeper investigation.  I’m not a fan of the vacuously spewed cliche, especially when the very thing that gives that phrase meaning is journeying into its hidden depths.  But I can’t say that I have a problem with their essence.

Because in the end?  They’re all true.  😉

Musings

Society whispers to us:  “Stay within these gray, reputable walls.  Forgo creativity and that deep, everlasting wisdom.  Perpetuate, perpetuate, perpetuate.”  But an ancient part of us responds.  It says that for our brief stay on this spinning marble, that we are meant to be explorers; freed by discipline and audacity, subject to no snare of craving, or prison of tradition.

We are not meant to live with downcast eyes in fearful drudgery, but out in fresh air, with open-eyed wonder.

Musings

Creative efforts are first manifested on imaginary planes; while they may not immediately yield physical rewards, I feel that consistently engaging in them is akin to spinning some giant, subtle wheel.

Even though that momentous wheel may be overlooked by us humans, it is definitely noticed and appreciated by the Universe.  Eventually, all debts are paid, all dividends are given.  (In one form or another)

Musings

After every hateful instance, every hair-ripping dose of fury, there are those quiet moments; ones that remind us that underneath it all, there’s some deep fantastical melody; some deep, benevolent wellspring.

After all the horror and strife is said and done, we’ll be okay.  I know it.  🙂

Musings

I believe that whatever path we take, however selfish/altruistic, noble/villainous, or indulgent/disciplined it is, we are all (in our own way) grasping for some kind of ascendance-some relief from suffering.  An individual’s path may look repugnant, and may in fact be misguided, but I firmly believe that it is motivated-at the deepest level-to merge with some Greater Truth.

Now I’m not one to endorse blind compliance or lack of consequence, but even when we do what is harshly necessary, I try to keep the aforementioned in mind, for it can be a source of understanding and compassion.
