I (and many of you) have been betrayed:  let down at one point or another.  But that is no excuse to withdraw and become a rigid, reactive shell.  No, I take betrayal as inspiration—inspiration to train my instincts and skills, and make my inner and outer capabilities all the more trustworthy.

The supposed perfection of any given theory breeds ideological robots—reactive automatons that lash out at any disagreement.  What is missing from these peoples’ minds is that every philosophy has its place at a certain point in time, and the point is not to perpetuate one single viewpoint, but to tap the central wisdom that lies deep in each of their cores.  It is possible, I believe, to reach a state of harmony where you can not only adopt every philosophy as needed, but also be able to mix them together and improve on them if necessary.

Musings

Do not just agree with and applaud yourself; constantly debate and test your own views.  In this way, YOU drive yourself forward, and you cease depending on misfortunes and outer circumstances to compel personal evolution.

IMHO, that’s the true meaning behind, “Be your own boss.”

Musings

The infectivity of ideas and awareness…it’s all accelerated in recent decades, and while we may destroy ourselves before we actualize ourselves, I don’t believe that will be the case.  We make bounds and leaps, and sometimes the landings are hard, but in the grand view of things, how can we NOT be positive and enthusiastic?  If it’s over soon anyways, I’ll enjoy it while I can, and laugh at my old and dour self.  That music we hear is meant to be danced to, not to reservedly appreciate while we lurk in the corners and try to look cool.

Musings

If we build on the age-old premise that the divine resides in everything’s purified core, then it naturally follows that we shouldn’t seek to add and pile on to our arsenal; we should carefully prune away what holds us back, and our arsenals will make themselves apparent.

Musings

Much of the notion of the comfort/discomfort of an activity comes from the connotation we put on it—”I like/hate this.” “I’m good/horrible at this” “this is boring/fun.”

Training should be more than just a mindless acquisition of skill; it should be a conscious deprogramming of that which keeps us inept.

Musings

The leaky cups of our minds are meant to take in sublime elixirs a bit at a time—so that we can fully appreciate the individual flavors.  It’s actually a good thing we are temporary, for I believe that along our paths, we will morph into beings that are able to experience every flavor at once; and we will be able to appreciate them all the more, BECAUSE of the time we spent as a limited vessel.
