Dirty Sci-Fi Buddha is the website for me:  author Kent Wayne.  The site name comes from the subject material in my early pieces of writing.

Three works are featured.  The first one is a series called Echo, a science fiction dystopia where a disillusioned warrior pushes his craft to its bloody limits, then attempts to break through into a realm of world-bending mastery.  I’ve finished this four-volume series, and I’ve also posted some free sample chapters, click here to start reading.

    • Wow, Japan’s always a place I wanted to visit. Unfortunately, I believe I’ll have to make a lot of money to afford just to eat there, haha! Digital publishing is much easier in my opinion, as I don’t have to deal with agents or editors. The product I put out is something I assume full responsibility and control over.

  5. I have my first embarrassing book that I wrote when I was 18 available online. I sell copies of it on my Etsy shop since it’s self published and print on demand. It makes me cringe when I read parts of it but it’s kind of my beginnings as an artist, so I keep it in my body of work that’s available to people.

  11. Since my youth, I have enjoyed reading Science Fiction. Love the latest high-tech motion pictures with a sci-fi bent. Now that I’m retired, I have more time than ever to read and travel. Thanks for stopping by and following my journeys.

    • Thank You So Much! Right now I’m a really busy trying to work out the kinks of paperback publishing…but may I offer an observation? I’ve seen dogs that have been abused freely love those who abuse them. That’s a strength of heart and love that I have yet to find in a human, and for that reason, I’ll always consider our mutt friends to be one of the wisest teachers I’ll ever learn from!

      • Thanks so much! I guess, first off, what’s your background in? Did you study creative writing in school? I often hear “write what you know” which rings true for me as I find when I write what I know, the process seems a lot more effortless and incredibly enjoyable. I studied business in school and then went on to take my yoga teacher certification. I find a lot of insights show up in my novel writing work which I find similar to your musing posts. I’m also wondering how long you’ve been writing for and what your writing process is. I’ll leave it there for now 🙂

      • I’m happy to answer your questions! I was never inclined to be a writer. I fell into it after a mildly storied life, one that emphasized the importance of thinking critically and solving problems. I apply this problem-solving to not just writing but all aspects of my life, which is how I came up with the marketing strategy that I use now. I think “write what you know” works up to a point, but unless you’ve lived like Hemingway, you’re gonna run out of anecdotes. I believe every experience allows a writer insight into human nature, and the deeper that insight, the crazier things you can write about. I, for one, have never been in a knife fight or piloted a giant robot. Yet my “problem-solver” persona comes to the fore and works out the possibilities in my head, trying to find the most thematically true and viscerally exciting iterations for each fantastical scenario. I’ve been writing fiction since early 2015. My writing process is influenced by Steven Pressfield’s War of Art (THE defining book on creativity if there is such a thing), which can briefly be summed up as, “Amateurs wait for inspiration, pros get to work.” I am very, VERY heavy on discipline when it comes to writing. I believe that an entrepreneur or an artist must ironically work MORE than they would if they had a boss; the reward is that they get to work on what they want. I like to read comics for quick accumulation of larger-scale premises, I’ll study Stephen King and Marcus Sakey for styling, and I’ll use movies/tv to learn thematic structure, as a one to two hour story’s themes have to be really tight. Hope that answers some of your questions!

    • Thank You So Much!!! Yeah getting followers is tough, and I cringe at Echo 1’s current need of revision. The cover page is only my idea, and my illustrators really deserve the credit. (I’ll take credit for harassing them until they got it right, though. Hahaha!)
